In 2013, watershed, stream and salmon advocates came together to save the remaining salmon and steelhead in Marin County and protect our streams and watersheds.

Redwood Creek, shown below, is an example of our advocacy work. We are focussed here due to the critical state of declining, endangered coho salmon and the intense use of Muir Woods.

What we do:
  • conduct water quality tests
  • monitor and compile statistics on coho population and watershed and stream health
  • research relevant studies
  • reach out to government officials and agencies through meetings, phone and email to find solutions
  • provide public education and outreach through tabling and presentations
  • write articles and publish information to media and public
  • build community-based watershed coalitions
  • request more comprehensive water testing
  • provide research to other organizations saving salmon
  • inform the public about issues and policies affecting a public trust resource
  • advocate for the voiceless wildlife and communities to create protections and restoration
  • document damage and potential violations of federal, state and local statutes
  • work with affecting  and affected communities toward solutions
