MMWD Lands - Ebikes, Erosion, Wildlife
The Marin Municipal Water District is considering opening up their lands to ebikes. Their website www.marinwater.org - a search of ebikes is necessary. WAM is opposed to the opening of these public lands to ebikes and are assessing this potential environmental impact to the watershed, water quality and wildlife. We have attended almost all of the public hearings related to this issue and provided comments. |
Reporting Clean Water Act Violations to the County and State (SF Regional Water Quality Control Board)
We respond to complaints by citizens and appreciate your vigilance by expanding our witnesses.
There are several restaurants throughout the County that are polluting the creeks where there are threatened steelhead and other species of wildlife.
We are continuing to monitor and report and make sure that this stops.
If you suspect a Clean Water Act violation, please go to our Reporting Violations page our contact us at [email protected] or contact MCSTOPPP.org and file a complaint with the Marin County.
Taking photos, and documentation (date, time, place, activity) are highly recommended.
Marin City Community Advocacy
Marin City is one of the most important areas for our involvement with social, environmental equity and justice. ggvrc.org
We support the lawsuit of the Resident's Council for Golden Gate Village vs. Marin County in pursuit of their self-determination to become a community owned land trust and to stop, once and for all, the legacy abuse of a population from systemic racism and red lining.
We supported the Federal Historic Places Designation for Golden Gate Village.
Our organization partnered with the Community when they received a Rockefeller Grant for bringing green solutions and direct applications to the community. We donated time, expertise and funds.
Teaching through outdoor field trips with Martin Luther King Middle School students we continue to engage in our mission while developing relationships with the next generation. This outreach supports the community leaders and members, their work and vision.

Our board member Nik Bertulis and Laura Chariton were Tule Elk docents for the National Park Service at Pt. Reyes National Seashore before the program was ended.
There are as many Tule Elk left in the world (6000) as there are cattle on the Pt. Reyes Peninsula.
The Tule Elk of Pt. Reyes are in a desperate situation at this time. From observations made on 11/21/20 there were witnessed; several emaciated cows and there are almost no calves from this year that would have been born in the late spring and early summer of 2020.
We think they didn't survive the stress but would appreciate the Park Service's answers.
The decision to leave the elk behind the fence and find little to no water available or decent forage has and will continue to cause mortalities and amounts to animal cruelty.
We have been montoring this issue from its beginning and commenting and will continue to follow this issue closely.

Tule Elk please go to:
