VOLUNTEER and EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES and Programs

In the past we have been working with volunteers from the Marin School of Environmental Leadership, Environmental Forum of Marin and the College of Marin Internship Program. We need volunteers ongoing for our Eastern Streams of Marin County Report Card as well as additional volunteer opportunities outlined below.

If you would like to be a part of this important work, please contact us at watermarin@comcast.net.

Research Assistant and Biological Report Writer

Perfect job for someone interested in gaining specific experience in environmental policy and scientific writing.  Excellent pre-law opportunity. Work would include research data analysis, historical research (species, environmental conditions), development of a Marin County Stream Report Card, working from agency reports (National Marine Fisheries Service, California Dept. Fish and Wildlife, Federal Register Natural Resource codes for Federal and State, Environmental Protection Agency, reports, etc.), organizing information for public hearings.

Administrative Assistant to Director

Data entry, outreach, light bookkeeping,  correspondence, data management, website management, appointment calendar, grassroots organizing, social media outreach, organizing information for public hearings, general office management and scheduling.

Social Media & Outreach Guru

Do you like to send messages, compile information, stay current on breaking news stories and disseminate information and reach the greatest audience possible?  We need someone with skills at communication, Facebook, Twitter, etc.  and willing to table at events and interact with the public.

Stream Surveys

Biological interest/background to map and survey aquatic life, test and assess water quality, enter data on Survey Monkey, learn to identify native/invasive plants, geomorphology and restoration potential for creeks located Eastern Marin e.g. Corte Madera, Mill Valley, Fairfax, Larkspur, San Rafael.

Volunteer Coordinator

A volunteer coordinator will help identify needs of the organization, provide support to volunteers, procure volunteers and schedule of events and workloads for volunteers in order to achieve objectives.  Those include compiling information and data entry coming in from volunteers, working with stream surveyors to ensure supplies are available, regions are covered and data entry is up to date.  Will provide specific oversight of volunteer need presented through the implementation of different projects.  Great communication skills - probably about 15 hours per week to start.   Independent thinker with experience in management  to provide inspiration and support to those who work with us.
